TM when I say the SMC, under the direction of TG, learned a lot this year and oftentimes they were LHO. Their last meeting of the year was held at TS in Jefferson on June 4. Students spent the year learning how to build SCF, which was sponsored by JT, conducting informational surveys of their peers’ use of SM, and reflected upon how these tools can be better used. SCF were made 4 several major events including VD, sporting events, the GM, and prom.
The club also had the opportunity to skype with several notables: 1997 JS graduate, Nicole Peckumn, who lives in Washington, DC and currently serves as the bureau chief of communications for the District of Columbia Homeland Security and Emergency Management Agency; and Claire Masker, Director of Public Relations for the National Pork Board in Des Moines (ISU grad in Ag Communications/Animal Science with a Master’s in Ag Education).
HSS are encouraged to get involved with the SMC next fall.
